Product Description:
The pole-mounted floodlights at your ski resort keep going out, taking as long as 10-15 minutes to reach full brightness again. This is crippling your business, since you have to close the slopes once the sun goes down. Your prayers are now answered with the cold location 400 watt HID backup ballast from Bodine.
The Arctic400PLS high frequency "arc-keeper" will keep the electrical arc inside a gas discharge lamp at full luminosity for up to 2-minutes using an internal ni-cd battery. The battery is shrouded in a patented battery warmer that allows the arc maintenance device to operate in temperatures that would make "Frosty the Snowman" put on a jacket!

Application:
Ideal walk-in freezers and outdoor locations that get as low as -40° F. The Arctic400PLS should be kept inside a watertight fixture or recessed within a building to prevent icicle formation around the case.
It will keep a 200-400 watt pulse start metal halide bulb at full brightness during brief power sags. If the power failure persists after 2 minutes, an inverter will automatically switch to a connected DC generator circuit without losing efficacy.
External Specifications:
The Arctic 400PLS has a reduced profile steel case and includes a solid-state charging indicator which attaches to the luminaire for at-will battery monitoring. The Arc Keeper ballast has six convenient 0.25-inch diameter holes (3 at each end) which will allow mounting inside most PSMH ballast channels.
